want to remove my roof rack, then going to use some clear silicone to plug up the holes... How well will that work in keeping water out?

Not sure on its longevity-being on the roof and all-possibly drying out quicker from direct sunlight. I have heard of people buying smaller set screws and wrapping them with teflon tape to be on the safe side ;)

+1 on this. Also add some silicon caulking but make sure to use 100% silicon. Don't use 'siliconized' crap. It will shrink and dry up and crack.

When you do this create a write up complete with pics of the process and products that you use! :High 5: this question gets asked a lot so I think a write up would be very beneficial :)
