Rear tailGate/Door wont open

Please help, 2019 Chevy Tahoe LS, the rear tailgate will not open. It is not power just manual. I get the double click at the switch on the tailgate. The dash also says open rear gate. I have removed the plastic cover and tried pushing a small screw driver into the hole that is supposed to release, no luck I have watched and searched youtube videos. I am at my whit's end trying to release the latch to open the gate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you must be using too small of a screwdriver, the release is there right where it is supposed to be, try again. sounds like you might need a new actuator
if you can't find the release by hand then shine a flashlight in there so you can see it

Thanks, Inside the black square all the way in the middle, just push it in. Is that correct. I have tried multiple sizes does not want to release.

yep, try looking in there with a flashlight and/or with a tilt mirror
