i would like to get the RBP black tip for the truck. or maybe even another one but just as long as its black. i kinda like the rear resonator cause it keeps it muffled just enough with the magnaflow muffler. Since the tips are usually 12-18 i would have to cut the resonator off and was wondering how much louder does this make the truck. Like i said i already have the magnaflow and its plenty loud, but would like to add a better looking exhaust tip. what do you guys think? remove the resonator and get the RBP, or leave the resonator and try and find a smaller tip?

thanks

Ha...this corresponds to my reply in the other exhaust tip thread.

Do you REALLY want to spend $350+ on an exhaust tip that's just going to get beat up and look like crap in a couple years. Why don't you just buy less expensive non-chrome tip with some ceramic high-heat black spray paint. Yes, you'll have to repaint it every so often....but wouldn't that be better than wasting money on a grossly oversized exhaust tip with the ugly RBP logo all over it that will get nice and beat up in a year or two?

Just my opinion....most people on here will probably disagree with me...

haha hell no am i going to spend $350+ on that!

http://www.billetanything.com/RBP-Exhaust-Tips-s/3181.htm

the tips are only like $130 and thats for the shortest one (which is what i want)

i dont mind painting (i have some high temp black paint too, and have done my motorcycle exhaust)

i dont mind the logo either primarily because its going to be mostly under the truck. im not a big fan of exhaust tips sticking out the side. only reason i want black is to match the truck, i think it would look better!

My only issue with the one you posted is that the smallest outlet they have is 4.5". That's going to look ridiculous...in a bad way. 3.5" is my max....you MIGHT be able to convince me of 4", but never 4.5".

What's wrong with one like this?

Or if you absolutely want to go bigger (ew)....

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-35107/

Prep it for paint, use some good high-heat ceramic paint....done and done....for less than $50....

haha i didnt even pay attention to the output! damn your right 4.5 is huge!

the magnaflow one looks good and prepping that shouldnt be too hard, though it is polished and would have to do some sanding...

but you arer for removing the resonator? or have you seen or found other tips that are maybe 6"?

I would recommend getting rid of the resonator since you have a Magnaflow muffler. If you had Flowmaster or some crappy sounding thing like that then the resonator might be good to have to tone it down. But it should sound sweet without the resonator and some good tips.... It'll be louder, but probably not A LOT louder. At idle you probably won't notice much of a difference, but at WOT you will.....

And yes, it will take some effort to prep the tip for paint, but nothing too bad. Get some good sandpaper, steel wool, buffing pad, or something like that... And then use a good high heat paint and cure it as recommended by the paint manufacturer....

Just get an SLP or a Volant and paint it black. Get rid of that ugly resonator.

Yeah ridden of the resonator, it will make a slight difference in sound but not much at all.

UofM I did have the Magnaflow with the stock resonator for ~1 year. A few months ago I had the resonator cutoff and replaced with a turn down pipe that is hidden from view.

The removal of the resonator made it louder at startup, idle, crusing, and WOT of course. For me, I like the increased loudness :). If you think the Magnaflow is loud with the resonator and any increase is an issue, then I would recommend you look into another resonator that can be hidden and get a tip you like from the muffler shop (or online). BTW, with the Magnaflow/resonator delete there is a drone at ~2,500 to 3,000 rpm.

For you I would recommend looking into the Corsa Touring or Sport (just replacing the muffler) with the resonator delete. IMO this would be the setup you are looking for.

ok so i think i may have a solution. i do want to keep the ugly resonator, so i went to a local shop and asked about some custom work. Dude there said i could order a black powder coated slash tip (12", and i only need 6" with resonator) for $35 then he could cut and fab up some parts and fit it for another $10! so that being said, i might use some high temp paint and paint the resonator part black then have them weld on the tip make it nice and clean.

Please post a pic of this when you have it dialed. I am thinking of deleting the "coffee can" but am unsure of the sound levels with a FM Series 50 SUV muffler. Suppose I could have the shop cut it off and take a listen then decide to put back or leave off. Thanks.

Less than $70, and it will look professional without you painting it...

These black tips are pretty common in the diesel world, I've had a few on my trucks. My current one is an AFE, they make a good product and it looks similar to RBP's. MBRP is another good one. I never thought to look and find one for the wifey's Hoe...but she likes the shiny stuff anyway so, I'll prob leave hers polished
