I have to drain my diff just a week after changing the fluid to further examine the parts and replace the fluid type. I had a gasket put in last week but now the shop says "no gasket, only sealant"... I'm going to use the synthetic Amsoil.... Which is right? Gasket or sealant?? Thx...

You can use either, most choose just to use RTV, works better than the paper gasket. Most importantly, torqueing the bolts in a criss-cross pattern.

I just changed the fluid on the diff a week ago, I used the paper gasket and RTV. Overkill, yes I know.

I don't use anything on mine, I don't even have a cover on it. I just hose it down to cool it all off when I get home at nite. :D
