I just picked up this 07 Tahoe LT with the automatic dual zone climate control. Everything up front seems to work exactly how it is supposed to. I can't get any action out of the rear though. The rear controls on the back of the center console don't seem to do anything, including light up. If I read the owner's manual correctly, if I push the "AUX" button, the rear should mimic what the front is set at, until someone in back screws with the controls back there.

Do you think I need to replace that control panel in back? I honestly don't care if anyone in back is able to take control. I like to think my dogs are genius, but I'm sure they will never figure it out anyway. I'd be happy with bypassing those controls, if that is a possibility, so that I can tell the back what to do from the front.

As far as I know you cant control the back separately (with the front controls).....what you do in the front is what you get in the rear. I just looked this up the other day because I wanted to lower or raise the blower in the rear but keep the front where it was at, according to the manual you can only do that from the rear controls.

Sounds like I might need to acquire this Tech 2 gizmo. I see it mentioned often here.

If you have the rear controls on the center console that has arrows for temp & fan speed, you’ll also have the rear display incorp’d to show all the audio options: XM, FM, DVD, AM & AUX.

Ours stays off until you hit the white up or down arrow to raise or lower the fan speeds for the rear HVAC. Once it’s on, the rest comes alive.

Check your glovebox door for the RPO code that shows rear HVAC equip’d. Anyone know the code for that?

It is equipped, it just doesn't come alive. Not even the audio. There's nothing lit on the display.

My neighbor thinks his wife's rig has the same setup. I'll go see what it should do and go from there. I was thinking that maybe I should pull her rear control out and plug it into my rig if they are identical, unless anyone thinks I might fry hers. I'd probably order one if I knew that is what it was.

Pull it. At least see if the board is plugged in. When selling the truck, some start pulling their accessories they don't want to go with the vehicle. If the past owner was using the center console audio input (facing the 2nd row seating) they may have not connected something back up.
