Yes and I also suggest looking for one with WIRELESS CarPlay. You can leave your phone in your pocket and CarPlay starts up automatically when you start the engine.

I always charge my phone in the car so wired would be preferred or I’ll have to add a Qi charging in either the arm rest or the console.

Contact Crutchfield...
thats a yes and x2 on crutchfield.com
I figured I’d ask here first before I call them because people have changed them and might have kept the dvd play back.

There’s a difference between just plugging in to charge or plugging in to use CarPlay. Plus a wireless charger is much easier. DVD is included in most all head units now and it’s easy to enable playback while driving if you want.

the idata maestro rr retains all your stuff rse, bose, onstar, steering wheel controls, tpms, etc, plus you get a obdii scanner & gauges that works thru the headunit, then you just need to pick a head unit both kenwood and pioneer make a wireless & wired headunit, with or without nav, with and without dvd.

This is interesting. Gauges that read the values of the pid of whatever I want to monitor?

yes there is a variety of gauges to select, you can't pick from everything you might be able to with a tech2 or something but they cover a bunch of them

Also they automatically show any DTC’s that happen along with things like TPMS info if a tire goes low, etc. the vehicle diagram shows up with the location of the low tire.

a hu with screen mirror while using torque pro will get you something similar to the maestro but not quite. as mentioned previously most hu im aware of the data cable link only supplies enough juice to maintain a phone or maybe get you 5-10 % after an hour or so. wireless with a separate charging cable is much more efficient. if your vehicle doesn't have it you could add it but having a charging port in the center console is nice. plug the phone in close the center console and your phone is safe and tucked away. fairly popular to modify one of the catch trays to add a wireless charging pad.

Yeah I feel like my phone isn’t charging in my car anymore either. I’m most likely going to add a Qi charger either in the catch tray or the armrest console lid. There is that tray in the middle to hold the phone.

my nex w8200 charges my phone just fine, direct connected to the headunit and running android auto, if you are going to run android auto or carplay wireless you will want it to be charging unless you are just running around town it will suck the juice otherwise. I would say it cuts your normal battery life by 50% if you are not charging it at the same time.

i dont have much on my phone so just running pandora doesn't really kill mine. however i haven't done a hu that would do both. my cheap jensen is one or the other not both for some dumb reason. my pioneer and the others ive done recently were only datalink.

It’s not wireless CarPlay that kills my battery it’s the music app itself either Pandora or Amazon or Google maps, just look at the battery usage and it shows the percentage by app. You just don’t notice when using wired CarPlay because it’s automatically charging at the same time. But it’s nice for 95% of my driving which is around town when I leave my phone in my pocket. My 8plus lasts all day without an issue.

Waze is on as soon as I get in the car. Gotta know where the cops are!!! So with sunglasses and full brightness and waze on my screen plus streaming pandora my battery doesn’t charge as much. It’s really just maintaining.
