radio cut out

I have a 2000 Yukon Denali with the Bose system and 6 disc changer. While driving home one night my radio (i was playing a cd) went dark and stopped playing my music and started making a siren like sound. None of the buttons on it would work so I stopped the car and turned it off and back on again. That seemed to clear the problem. I'm not sure what caused it though. It worries me because not too long after (about a week) i went out to start the truck and the battery was dead. Its a brand new battery too (less than three months old) so something was draining it but I have no idea how to figure that out. Didn't know if these could be related or if I have some other problem at work here.
