Question about bypass the heater core

Question for the forum gurus: Is the method I've shown in the image valid for bypassing the heater core, or is it mandatory to interconnect the pump ends with a U-shaped hose? (07 Tahoe, stock Engine 5.3, RWD).

I definitely don't need the heating at all so the idea is to eliminate the 3-way hose that goes to the heater core and replace it with a simple hose directly to the coolant reservoir.

The 5/8" end would be permanently blocked with a plug.

Is this correct, or is the 5/8" end not connected to the 3/4" end internally on the pump?

I'm not entirely sure how the pump internals work on the LS version, but a lot of guys will just use a nipple and hook up their heater hoses together near the firewall. That's when their heater cores start leaking on the GMT800 (somewhat common issue on those.) No adverse effects. At least on the summer months until it starts getting cold around here.

What you are showing on that photo looks like essentially the same thing. I want to say those lines are like "bypass" circuits, so I don't think it affects anything on the fluid pumping/circulation. I think you'll be fine.

Where are you that you don't need any heater? Or is this a summer-only vehicle?

I was thinking the same thing; the idea is to eliminate unnecessary hoses. The truck is in Colombia, 72º to 80+º all year.

Yes, the weather is very good all year, although there is all kinds of weather here. Just 3 hours from where I am there are snow-covered mountains, but I don't live in or frequent those areas.
