Picked this up a couple of months ago real cheap and with no direction where to go with it.. It's an 87 with a 383 engine. picked it up on CL for $1600. The previous owner removed all the emmission components so it wont pass hence the price but I have a fresh 6.0 and the 4l60e that was in my tahoe. Not really worried about the smog thing since we own a house out of this county where emmissions are not required..

I'm open to ideas. My gut tells me to go the 2wd lowered route since they are a mother to find..

dude no. Put the 6.0 and whipple off your 5.3 in your hoe, and move the 5.3 to the blazer.

Hmmm. That's tempting... If I go the 2wd route I'll have to remove the entire front end/drivetrain, that would be an ideal time to do the swap.... I'm gonna have to think really hard since I wasn't planning on tearing into the Hoe if it wasn't necessary. It ain't broke so why **** with it..

The dude had a spare so he cut off the side windows off one top. He gave me both.. I don't want to cut it up that's for sure, it's gonna stay like this wether 4x or 2wd. It looks like the paint is OG..

Jesus god all mighty don't you DARE make that thing into a dropped suv. That there is a blazer! Make good use of what it is, it looks AMAZING! Focus on the interior and the mechanical's. Other then wear and tear of parts just replace them don't lower it you'll thank me in the long run.

I agree with this. Always thought the Blazers looked better lifted.

I say lift it. The Burbs look good lowered, but that K5 would look beautiful on some meats. Either way I am really excited to follow this build, will you be posting up with pics as it progresses?

One day I want to buy a late 80's square body burb and restore it.

MAybe I should just leave it alone then... It has a 4" Rough County lift.. I don't want it any higher.

Damn! I've always wanted a 2wd, lowerwed sitting on rally wheels.. That was the reason I went for this but based on the responses I'm hesitant to do anything drastic to it..

In the end it is your ride. If you always wanted something. DO IT! Car customizing is about being different and expressing yourself thru your ride. Have fun. :mexsmoke:

I envisioned it like this but in white..

I already have a set of wheels just like these but in 16" dia. 8" wide. Had them for a while now just sitting waiting for something to slap 'em on.

I have my eyes on a non running 84 Sierra I can use as a parts truck. If all goes like I want I'm gonna do it..
