I can lower my front windows without issue, but when i need to bring them back up I have to try the switch several times to before it activates. this is from the drivers side switch controlling the front drivers and passengers windows. I have not tried the other individual window switches to see if here is a difference. I'm afraid one day that i might not get the windows back up.

Is this more likely a switch issue or something else? the windows do not make any noise when moving and the regulators do not seem to be struggling when bringing the windows up or down.

That's a hard one to say definitively, as there are a few possibilities on the source of your issue.

My first suggestion is to try all of the windows up and down to identify the full extent of your issue. It is my understanding that all of the window controls run through the controller in the driver's door, but I am not an expert on this by any means.

I do know that folks on this Forum have periodically opened up that driver's door switch module and successfully cleaned up the switch contacts and restored full window operation.

Other folks on this Forum have lubricated the guides on either side of the window, to reduce friction with the window glass and the containing felt inserts in the guides.

But, it always remains that 'possibly' your window motors are failing, because gravity makes to window up mode more difficult for the motors.

The power window switch is prone to corrosion. Especially if you get it wet frequently - opening the door/Window during rain.

I would guess the contacts on the driver switch are getting oxidized, preventing good electrical contact. It's a known issue. Bosch is the supplier that made them, and they actually worked with me on some moisture mitigation ideas.

I'd be willing to bet the individual door switches operate the windows just fine.

Battery? I had a similar issue with my 16 and after I replaced the battery, the problem disappeared!

Driver side rear door - no issue
Passenger rear door - goes own but not up (on that door switch) goes up from the driver switch cluster
passenger door - no issue
drivers switch operates all of them, but is touchy on the driver side windows

Guess you need two switches... Unless they can be disassembled/cleaned.

I've left my windows open in light rain a few times.. luckily no issues YET...

When windows act up I always grab one of my bi-directional scan tools and manipulate the windows with it. It's a quick way to determine if the issue is a switch or not.
