WHat is a sign that the power steering fluids are low. How do I check it and if it is low can I just add more on my own and what brand should I use on an '02 Chevy tahoe. I'm not to much into working on cars but I'm learning as i go, all my other cars are new and have warranties so I run to the dealer with them all the time. seems like when i cut the wheel all the way to the left it makes a slight noise!

just below the alternator is the power steering reservoir, open it up wipe off the stick and dip it back in to check the level. If its low, add some more. I usually use Prestone ps fluid but recently swapped out to royal purple but really any brand will work fine. Dont over fill it and check it after a few minutes of driving it around to look for leaks.

quick sign that your power steering is low, is your hear the dreaded "moan/groan" when you turn your steering wheel.

I've made it a habbit to check everytime I change my oil at a MINIMUM.

Make sure you fully tighten the cap fully when your checking the fluid level or you will get a false reading. The most important thing I cannot stress enough is do NOT overfill the resevoir- you will cause premature pump wear.

Like previously stated, any PS fluid will work, Its a very basic material and any will suffice.

Good Luck

Im pretty sure all vehicles, not just Tahoes, make that funny noise when you turn it all the way one direction. My cousin's 07 Sierra does it and its brand new. Does it immediately stop if you let off just a lil bit? Mine does it too

Yea I think all GM Trucks/Suvs make that "weird" sound when you turn the wheel all the way to the left/right. Like when making a U-turn or leaving a parking spot.
