Hey guys, been visiting here for a while but first time posting. Anyway, I am considering buying this 2008 Tahoe but the carfax is giving me second thoughts. It seems to have had a lot of things replaced/worked on such as pinion seal replaced, transfer module/computer reprogrammed, engine/powertrain computer/module replaced, window regulator replaced, lumbar system replaced, etc. I could be over analyzing it but I don't want to buy a lemon. The Tahoe is certified with 39k miles, but I am still concerned. I appreciate any feedback.

I personally wouldn't trust it, those all sound like they could have been caused by electrical issues and if one has a whole host of them like that, no matter how good the deal is, you'll probably regret the purchase in time.

Thanks for the input for far. The certified part is what drew me in, but I think I should be patient and keep looking.

I have also found that there are a lot of dealers out there that give you funny looks when you tell them that you don't care about their "Certification". They absolutely hate it when you don't just take there word for stuff...lol But I have also fallen victim of the buying something in a hurry because it looks like a killer deal and then there you are, stuck with the vehicle and the regrets and usually, if you aren't careful, a lot of negative equity to boot.

Be careful and look around! If you are spending that kind of money on a vehicle, anything that makes you question the vehicle, much less join a message board to ask about it, should immediately mean NO! Not maybe, not I'll think about it, but NO! Move on to the next one!

I'm looking to buy a 2010-11 Tahoe this year, has anybody had any serious problems with them? Buy the way I have a 2002 Tahoe at 60.000 miles and runs good just think it's time to get a new truck.

crotalus,

In my personal opinion, I would be very hesitant to purchase something with a carfax report like that. There are plenty of others Tahoes out there that are great. I encourage you to look on www.gmcertified.com to find some certified Tahoes in your area.

Thank you,

I don't mean to derail this thread here, but can you specify the parameters for a used vehicle obtaining the GM Certified designation? If the Carfax would give you pause, would that not put the Certification itself into question?

Sorry if this has been asked before elsewhere, just wasn't sure.

Clkelley,

Having a couple things on the Carfax report does not mean the vehicle in its entirety is a bad vehicle. To me, a Carfax report shows how the previous owner took care of their vehicle. There are many things that a previous owner could have contributed to the troubles that particular Tahoe had. Since those issues have been fixed, I wouldn’t foresee any other issues with those parts. However, like I said, to me the carfax is a reflection on how the previous owner took care of their vehicle. Our detailed, 172-Point Vehicle Inspection and Reconditioning Process is one of the toughest hurdles in the industry. Before any Chevy, Buick, GMC, Pontiac or Saturn vehicle earns the title of Certified Pre-Owned, it must pass all of our rigorous standards first. Our 172-Point Vehicle Inspection and Reconditioning Process is conducted only by highly trained technicians and adheres to strict, factory-set standards to ensure that every vehicle's engine, chassis and body is in excellent condition. No part is overlooked. If it fails a single point, we completely recondition it—or it won't be certified. You can view out 172 point inspection sheet at http://www.gmcertified.com/themes/default/pdf/CPO_172-PointInspectionChecklist051811.pdf You can also visit http://www.gmcertified.com/used-car-inspection to get a more detailed and interactive view of our inspections. I hope this information has answered your questions.

Thank you

The nav unit was replaced and the A pillar trim was replaced. Took 2 visits to get the nave fixed up. Then an extra visit because the dealership ordered and installed the wrong color A pillar trim. Other than that its been great!

It's nice to know that GM is watching out for it's customers.:)

One of the things you should check is the leather. If it has minimal cracking, the previous owner most likely took good care of the vehicle. GM Leather is very hard to maintain and cracks very easily without heavy conditioning and care.

unknown at this time.
The Carfax could also reflect the costumer having TSB or recalls immediately addressed as well in case that has not been mentioned yet.
