good deal man, glad to help. The mechanic at that dealership is an idiot. If he drove the car he should've realized immediately what the problem was

Or not even driven... just keeping his foot on the brake and giving it some gas

I have a bump that matches these symptoms almost exctly... i presumed it was the rear driveshaft....

how does one diagnose a motor mount?

Very simple, push ******* the brake, put the car on drive, DON'T release the brake, give it gas, and you should hear the bump, if you do, it's the motor mount, but make sure that when you step on the gas, step on it like if you are taking off. Don't hold on to the gas, a quick rev will give the engine the lift that you are looking for, to hear the bump.

That's the problem, the mechanics don't take the time to do this. Remember if they change your transmission is more money for the dealer versus an engine mount. It's all about money

I'm going to hold my excitement until i have time to test this but i think this may be the same problem I am having. Tranny shop checked the transfer case and the tranny and they checked out ok. I notice it alot when pushing on the accelerator after coming to a yield. Never from just taking off at a red light or stop sign.

Well after doing the test, I didn't hear the noise, so it still remains a mystery. I think I will have my mechanic see if he can figure it out. Maybe the U-joints needs to be replaced but one shop tested it and said it didn't look like it was that. I'll get to the bottom of it.

UPDATE: I took my car to the mechanic yesterday evening ... kept it there and he started working on it today ... He said that he removed the left engine mount (11 am Kuwait Time) and now he is trying to remove the one on the right which was a pain as he said ... the car may finish tonight or tomorrow ... I already miss BIG T ( GET WELL SOON ) <<< the last sentence is dedicated to my TAHOE which I named it BIG T

BTW I Forgot to mention that both of the engine mounts are damaged and need to be changed

In Kuwait the prices are as follows (according to today's exchange rates):

Dealership:

Before Discount: 50 KWD = 177.38 USD
After Discount: 40 KWD = 141.90 USD

Labor Charges: 40 KWD = 141.90 USD

Spare Parts Suppliers:

Before Discount: 40 KWD = 141.90 USD
After Discount: 30 KWD = 106.42 USD

Labor Charges: Will be discussed at after I check the car

Your engine mounting has gone loose.... or thats your coming form the transmission... just get a complete diagnostics of your ride or it may cause you huge troubles... just check the engine mounting first!!!!

UPDATE 2:

The engine mounts are changed, apparently both of them are damaged the new ones made my car as soft as new :) I am so happy to get back the comfortable drive feeling

the total cost for the engine mounts and the labor charges is: (Today's Currency Exchange Rate)

Total Price (parts+labor) - 100 KWD = 354.48 USD

Thats all for this post and I am happy to say that the problem is over :)

Hello,

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. It is possible that this is something that could possibly be covered under your powertrain warranty. I would suggest taking the vehicle in to have it checked out. Please let me know if you need help locating a dealership or setting an appointment. I am happy to help.
