I just installed a new VCIM with bluetooth and a new Pioneer x8500bhs unit. I've never subscribed to Onstar but I'm contemplating it since I can use the RemoteLink app on my iPhone with the VCIM upgrade I did.

I know there is a 3 month free trial but does anyone know a way to get any other discount if I was to subscribe?

Is it worth a subscription?

Let it expire after the free trial. They will flood you with discounts trying to get you back. Works even better with XM.

I paid $169 for the year. I would have let it lapse but I didn't want to lose the convenience of RemoteLink app during the winter. If it were spring.......that would have been another story.

I had a free year on Yukon with State Farm but didn't know they still offered it. I will have to call and find out.

Just call them and tell them you got an email regarding it. Press the blue button and speak to a rep.

I asked my agent about this Monday and he said its kind of a catch 22 they collect the data and if u drive over 7500 miles per. yr insurance rates could go up. I'm not sure about the price diff between onstar sub and increased rates. Could be a wash.

My rates are based off of 12k miles per year as is, so they wouldn't adjust. Yes they upload the data to State Farm so they can track your driving habits. If you speed a lot and rack up a lot of miles, this isn't for you. But for the $15-20/month savings for having onstar, it's worth it.

One of the added benefits of having OnStar is the NSA knows where your vehicle is all the time, so if a government ***** wants you to go ****! for instance, well, you just may go ****!. :evillol:
