Hey everyone i have a black 2002 tahoe lt, the paint on the hood is heat checking and chipping. i would like to paint the hood and repair a few spots on the car. Would repairing a few spots make the paint look blotchy? Is this something i could do my self if i were to rent equiptment? just need some help here.
Thanks
Grant

If you just paint a little 12" circle on one door itll look weird, but you can afford to repaint that whole door with the hood then there shouldnt be a proble,.

Carcrz i saw your thread when you shaved your rear hatch and thats where i got the idea but this would be the first time i have every tried anything like this. I was quoted over 1000 to paint the hood at a local autobody. Does anyone know a good affordable painter in the denver area?

over 1000 for the hood??!!! thats way too much. I usually give the option to TYF members, if you drive to ohio (cleveland) pay for materials and beer ill paint it for free.

be careful of the cheapest....they are the cheapest for a reason. either low quality materials or low skilled painter. look at some of their work currently there (not their photo bbook they always seem to want people to see), actual in progress work. see if they prep right or mask off right or how the finished product looks. to they cut and buff after? does it have trash all in it? runs?

also, if you are having to even ask the first few questions in your original post, i'd say no. u dont know what u are doing and shouldnt try it. :) painting is a skill. i can do body work and prime all day but i aint gonna touch the paint gun...i'd be sorely dissappoiinted in my work.

Listen to what he says. I can also do alot of body work but I won't touch a spray gun because I never done it. I could go and get MHz certification and learn how to do it but right now I'm getting my electrician degree at a trade school I go to In The mornings. Best part is it's very cheap. Back on topic. Don't do it it's not easy for someone who doesn't know what thy are doing

I have a friend that lives in Highlands Ranch, and has a shop in Littleton. Place is called Lowe's Auto Repair, or something like that. His name is Mike Lowe. Neither he or his shop do autobody work, but he does have prior experience, and a few contacts. Tell him Connor asked if he could recommend a place. Might help you more if you let him change your oil too.

I cant do full paint jobs for people on here (too time consuming to get it done in a weekend) But painting panels and just hanging out for a case of beer is cool with me.
I went through school painting and have over 6gs worth of spray guns (only 4 guns and 6grand, go figure)
But i can paint and lay down that clear.

Thanks guys! Is there a write up anywhere on how to prep it for paint? i feel like if i were to do that then take it to a good shop it would balance the price enough for me. Just a little info about me im 17 still in highschool and have my schedule booked with sports and school work so i cant hold a job for long. I just do work on the side for my parents and family so im on a super tight budget. I can postpone this a while just looking for opinions. Still wondering if any tyf members have previous experience with paintshops in colorado.
