Nittos vs Grabbers

I know a lot of people have nittos and love them, but does anyone hear ride on general grabber AT2? I was thinking of getting the grabber AT2 black sidewall when I stumbled upon a forum that talked s*&^ about the tires saying how crappy and cheap they were. The guy had a tire bulge after only 10 days that luckily didnt pop:

I'd appreciate everyone's 2 cents on either nitto terra grapplers or grabber AT2. As always, pics encouraged.

I was leaning towards the AT2's also. Main reasons being they have a much longer tread life, are fairly quiet riding, and are cheaper. I've heard some of the bad reviews, but you can't believe everything on the internet, so I'd still probably get them over the Nittos.

All that said, I changed my mind entirely when I took a look at some Cooper Zeon LTZ's and did some research on them. They ride well, decent tread life, and rate better or equal to BFG's in almost all categories. Plus I think they look good.

THose coopers do look nice! You thinkin of getting those for your winter wheels? Yeah, I'm leaning towards the AT2. I know there will be some good and bad reviews, you get that with anything you buy. But they are def not cheaper. At least not the ones I'm looking at. For some reason, a black sidewall commands a higher price than their white outlined letters. Anywhere from $270-340 for a tire (33 x 12.5 x 18). The good thing about the nittos is that they have black lettering and you can pick either side to face the front. I'll do a little more research, but I think I'm 95% for AT2 if I can find a good price!

Having said that and seen your pic of the coopers...f&*!. Adding another tire to my research.

The AT2's are way cheaper here, at least at the local shops. The Coopers are a little less, too, definitely cheaper than the Nittos.

Oh, and not for winter. Thinking about them for next summer's tires. I do a lot of fishing and good A/T tires are helpful to get to where I'm going sometimes. One of the reasons I'm liking the Cooper's though is the reviews that talk about how quiet and smooth they ride on the highways.

Go with the Nitto Terra Grapplers. Great tire and it is super quiet. Just took at a 7hr drive at 85+ great smooth ride. I got 285/70/17's for $850 out the door. Dont go cheap with tires if you can.

I agree in general that you shouldn't pay too little for quality tires. However, there is also no need to pay too much.

From what I've read, Nitto's are great tires, but they wear out fast and cost more than just about any other option except BFG A/T KO's.

I have read probably hundreds of reviews now, and I can't recall one bad review of the Cooper's, which is a good part of why I'll probably get them.

I'd probably get Nitto's if I could afford to spend $1200 on summer tires every two years, but I can't and there's really no reason to when there are other good options.

I can weigh in on both the generals and the coopers.
I have the grabbed at2's on my Tahoe. They are great. They balanced out with minimal weights, they are phenomenal in the snow, and they ride smooth and quiet. I have also had two different dudes come up to me at gas stations to talk about them, so they must look nice. The only downside is that they are a little heavy and don't seem to handle as tight as the factory firestones.

My buddy has the cooper zeon ltz's. They are also quiet and wear extremely well. I bet he has 30,000 miles on them and they still have over half their tread left. Either of these tires are a win in my book. Good luck with your choice.

That's not a big problem, but I'm getting keys and spacers and going for a semi-lifted look, and the coopers in my opinion look good for a dropped hoe look. If I were to ever drop my hoe, i would probably get the coopers. Since I'm not, it's either the nittos and the AT2 and luse4's comments pushed me towards the AT2.

i have Nitto's 285/70/17s on my truck and love them. they ride rougher than stock ofcourse but i love them.

They don't look as aggresive, especially the sidewall, I'll give you that. However, in the reviews I've read, off-road they perform as well or better than BFG's in almost all terrains, so that tread actually works.

I understand, though. If I was lifting (keeping mine stock and getting the biggest tires that'll fit) I'd probably go for a more aggressive looking tire, too, and like you would lean to the AT2 at this point.

I dont doubt it at all that the coopers are a good offroad tire from what i've read as well. I think you're right, it's the fact that they dont look aggressive, but the tread does look nice. But yeah, with a lifted look that im going for, i def want a more aggressive looking tire.

I just put Grabber AT2 on my truck 3 weeks ago. They are just my winter set. I did travel about 1000 miles just after mounting them and i went through a lot of snow and they did me pretty good. I dont have any pics of them on my truck but i will try and remember to get some tomorrow.

I would have been fine not seeing another member with grabbers, but that just made me want to get some now. But then i saw some pro comps and now im back to square one. I've been super busy/lazy, but I did get some moola for xmas, and I will be using that to get some tires and wheels. Will keep you posted but Coopers are out for me. Wanna get some more aggressive looking tread and I especially like the grabber AT2 blackwall, just super expensive. Soon my friend, soon

How much is super expensive? I thought $530 installed and out the door was very reasonable for mine. Not sure what size you are looking for, but mine are 265/70/16's. In my size, they were about the cheapest AT I could find.
