Hammar, my Tahoe is currently in the shop getting some body work fixed but I have a question.
Can you check and see if you can push your hood down anymore after the hood is closed?
And if so, how much can you push it?

I knew it!:emotions122:
Mine has a lot of play even after it is locked and latched. It pushes down like an inch after closing so it is responsible for my gap.

Is this something that happened from your little accident?

What accident?
Are you talking about the vandalism?
If so, no it's not. I noticed this issue with the grille back in 2008. It was just a lot less noticeable with the stock grille surround.

Yeah thats what i meant, what are the sides doing when your pushing the hood down? There isnt any flex in the hood so i wonder why its moving so much.

Yeah the hood issue happened on my old and current newer hood.
The sides are also going down too but they do not go down further than the fender line. It's weird. It is as if the latch it too high up.
I have always wondered why when I close my hood I can push it down more. It never bothered me because the old grilles did not show it.
Now that I remember, a while ago (late 08) I sprayed white lithium grease on the latch because it was not closing right. I wonder if that is now causing it to not close all the way.

Did you mean bad latch?
If so, hopefully I can get it fixed under warranty. If not, there is a new one on Ebay for $20 shipped.

I would look at yours first before buying one, something might of come loose and just need to be adjusted and tightened.

So how big of a pain is it to put in the Trex grille? Any write-up by chance? How much room is behind the grille? Any room to put lights?

Ok I will go to the shop and look it tomorrow. I have never tried to fix the issue with it. I will post about what happens.
Thanks for your assistance! :Handshake:

Modded the latch is attached by 4 bolts that are on slotted screws, they either came loose and the latch is sliding up and down or something in the latch went south.
From what i see on mine.

THANK YOU!
More than likely mine is slid down because the latch operates fine and I have never had any serious issues opening/closing the hood!
Good thing you got this grille or I would have never though anything of my issue!

Looks great man! I have thought about that grille for almost a year now and couldn't ever decide.
