I am getting rebuilt block for my 94 2dr yukon. It is just the block, no valve covers, oil pan, timing cover, etc-from HiPerformer(they have a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty). I have trying to get a list of good brands to get these parts from. I know some will be expensive and thats ok. I don't want to break the bank but I want it done right. I will be assembling everything I can myself. Just trying to get an idea-for example- ****** headers or pacsetters, best manifold, etc. Its my daily driver but also sees off road time as much as I can get free. This will be getting done in the next 2 months before I leave for some training. If requested I will photo the whole build and swap and post it. Thanks in advance!

so it'sa TBI longblock?

It's a mild, but torquy motor, you can add chrome goodies if you want, and search Summit for some longtube headers. Keep in the 1 5/8" diameter and maybe 2.5" collectors.

For the money I would get a Vortec (roller cam, vortec heads) and swap in an Edlebock TBI intake for Vortec heads.

I guess I have to edit the first post then...for the Vortec engine....any ideas for recomended parts? The basic parts like oil pan, valve covers etc...are they the same for both engines or different?

they are different. But the parts are readily available for Vortecs as well, same game plan, add headers and go.

Your old oil pan and valve covers will work. Not 100% sure on the balancer, I believe you will need a Vortec piece depending on the year of the engine. You need to change the cam gear to a melonized piece. Flywheel should bolt up ...

Thanks retorq! Thats the kind of information I need since I'm gonna do this myself instead of pay someone to do it. Any other things from anyone would help!
