All of a sudden, I'm starting to see these new DEF tank additives that are supposed to prevent crystallization and potentially extend DEF Life.
Has anyone used these additives, Are they safe and not detrimental to the critical def to water ratio? Do they actually work? Not too comfortable with putting anything in that tank other than pure DEF. Haven't had any related problems but on older vehicles this could be the difference between having to clean a DEF injector and having it work properly longer.

I've yet to see an LM2/LZO owner have an issue that is caused by crystallization in the DEF injector. Browsing around on some of the other diesel forums I see Ram owners taking their DEF injectors off and cleaning out with warm water when they get a DTC.

Personally, I'll leave it alone unless it becomes a problem. At this point it doesn't seem like the 3.0 Duramax is having DEF injector problems and if it ever is a problem it's likely a pretty easy fix.

I'm o my 4th DEF diesel vehicle. 4 GMs (including current Tahoe) and a Ram. I have never had any issue with the DEF system in any of them.
