ok guys I got a new rear bumper without the impact strip. but I am pretty sure the top pad they sent is for one with a impact strip. the ebay seller is little to no help on making it right so I need to know if anyone knows where I can get the correct pad to fit this bumper.

A little confused here, what year is your truck, and what year bumper did you install? What year, or part number was the step pad? OEM?

Not sure if this helps, but here's some rear step bumper pics from my '97 Hoe LT.

i got my rear bumper w/o impact strip from lmc i believe and it looks just like yours.step pad is 1/2' too big...explaining it to someone over the phone that has no idea what you are talking about doesnt help either.then i sent them measurements and pics and never got any answer...none of the scrapyards around me let people out in the yard anymore so unfortunately i cant just go find one that will fit...

so i was looking at the limted the other day and noticed the rear bumper step pad is 2 pcs instead of 1 solid piece.looks like it will fit on the new bumper that does not have the impact strip.im going to order a step pad for a 2000 limited and see how it fits

yea the 2 piece is not a option for me. my bumper has a hole in the center on the top that is not covered by a 2 piece version. there is a limited around here that has a 1 piece on it but the dealer cant locate that part for me

thats strange.i think the limiteds were thrown together with a bunch of leftover parts from different GMT400 platform vehicles.maybe they switched bumper styles at some point and the small 1 piece pad is the old style.or maybe it was a design they did a limited test run of then changed their mind and decided to use them up while building the limiteds, and the company that makes the new aftermarket bumpers happened to get one of the bumpers that uses the small 1 piece pad as their model for the reproduction parts?
