Just (literally 4 hours ago) bought a 2007 LTZ... It doesn't have the rear entertainment package, but does have NAV/BU Cam etc

I am looking to add user BT functionality to the radio. I have read a few threads on here about the lockpicks, pros and cons, etc etc, but the topics seem to stray.

I could care less about the OnStar... So that probably helps my options?

Also, I have no steering wheel phone controls, just the OnStar/mute paddle... I take it the steering wheel controls do not interface with some of these plug-in kits?

So, suggestions? Also, if there is an all-in-one BT+iPhone/POD controller out there, that would be pretty slick.

Thanks!

Welcome to TYF Dan. To answer your questions:

CoastelTech makes a GMX550 LockPick that does iphone/ipod control, netflix video output, etc. but it has no bluetooth. I have one installed in both of my vehicles but just a warning, it is buggy, but I still use it often for ipod music via my iPhone 4S and Netflix as I travel a LOT. They go for about $300.

Bluetooth can be gained from replacing your VCIM module that sits under your nav screen and behind the AC controls. Just search for "Bluetooth vcim tahoe" on eBay and you can get the VCIM with the Bluetooth adaptor for $250 shipped from a seller in Kalamazoo, MI.

Thanks Felix, appreciate the answer. I have read about the Lockpicks being picky.. Not sure If I am willing to go that route, yet... But nav on the move sure would be nice...

Thanks for the info on the BT VCIM.. Off to ebay to take a look. So, all I would need is just the VCIM w/BT adapter?

Yea I kinda have a love hate relationship with my lock pick. I cant live without it bc I always watch Netflix and listen to songs on my iPhone. But some of the songs that aren't a high bitrate sound like shit. If you buy your songs from iTunes it wouldn't be an issue though.

For the vcim Bluetooth yes those two parts are all you would need. The one on eBay for 250 already comes with both though so that's all you'd need.

Searched eBay and have not found the appropriate VCIM... Are there any other sources?

Also, for comparative purposes, my dad's 09 'Burb has BT and has phone steering wheel controls. My LTZ, does not (has controls for a lot of stuff, just not phone). Will this pose to be an issue?
