My '08 goes in next week for inspection and I'm worried they might fail it due to the tires getting a bit low on tread(50k miles). I want to be prepared if they do say I need them.

I know a bunch of you have aftermarket rims but I guess this still may apply.

Anyone have recommendations on tires? Brands and size? and where you'd buy from.

Curious if anyone has put on slightly skinnier tires to try and gain a bit of mpg?

Yeah, to be honest TYF isn't so great for Hybrid owners.

The best choice IMO is the Michelin LTX M/S 2 if you live in a snowy area and want long lasting tread life. Latitude Tour and Continental Ecopias are also good. Not a fan of the OEM Bridgestones.

On the matter of skinnier tires, it is possible to downsize to 17's and possibly get a skinnier tire on. You won't find much advice about downsizing on this forum though  just the same old shit about how 22's and 24's are great (Truthfully they ride like crap and I wish GM didn't ship my truck with them).

Tommy, I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Better handling, improved MPG, etc? It looks like you are interested in increasing your MPG. Skinnier tires would certainly help if you do a significant amount of highway driving although the benefits would likely be limited in city driving.

Also, I would recommend GreenHybrid for better/more timely feedback on your hybrid related questions. Here is the Yukon Hybrid specific forum: http://greenhybrid.com/discuss/f69/
