Hey guys, tried searching, but no luck.

Just looking to get some opinions on tire sizes for terra grappler a/t.

I have a CCM kit on my 07 Z71. What would be the largest size possible for me with minor trimming for these tires?

If i stay stock size (265) but get a 70 or 75 width would there still be a good bit of trimming? Would the width be a noticeable difference in the look?

Some pictures would help, if anyone has any.

Thanks!

hey dude, from what I understand 265 is more the width, or its kinda a combination of the two numbers. you should look at a "tire calculator". because 285/70/17 is 32.7 inches total and a 285/75/17 is like a 33.8. Same width...

Also, I just put on a 2.5f and 1.25r truxx leveling kit. ALL the research Ive done leads to the 285/70/17r to be the best tire for the job. Ill take pics when I get them on. Let me know what you find out.

IMO 285/65/18 is a good size. I had to trim ~2 inches from the front bottom bumper caps. Here's some pics.

SW CT,
If you are staying with stock wheels then take Zed71's advice. I run 305/55/20 which is a true 33x12.5 tire and had to trim quite a bit to make them fit.

See to me 285 still seems small because I used to have 325's on my truck.

Trimming seems a bit involved. On my truck it was just a matter of cutting the valence, but on the tahoe there is plastic everywhere. Anyone have any tips on where to start hacking/removal so I don't make a total mess?

The first post of this thread indicated you wanted to go 265/70 or 75. Is width or height more important?

305 width at ~33 inches would be the largest tire I would go with just like InTruck indicated (which took a lot of trimming). On the stock 18s you could go wider than 285 but stay at 33 inches in diameter. This is all based on the threads I have read. If you stay below that threshold you should be ok to install and trim as required.

Here's what will be needed at a minimum (wider that 285s at ~33" diameter). In addition, the rear of the wheel well mosly likely require trimming and then both ends of the wheel well will need to be tied off. Another way is just to take off the bottom valence pieces of the front bumper, remove the side step valence, and tie back.

Good luck and post pics.
