need some help with new amp.

ok I'm just going to sum it up.

Currently running 2 12's on 600 RMS, each sub is 350 RMS and 1400 peak.

Put in a new amp today, 900 RMS, so I'm guessing it's about 450 per woofer.
It's a Kenwood KAC-9104D Class D mono. If anyone knows about that, holler.

After I installed it, it was way louder than my 600 rms amp. It cut out though, because I'm guessing the gain was set too high. It blew the fuse in the hood, which is a 80 glass fuse, while the two 30 fuses on the amp were still good.

I need to know why this thing cuts out and how I can fix it.

I probably know 90/100 on sub facts. I know about 10/100 on amps, which is an F-, so please help! Thanks buddies

Mine only cuts out when the gain is way up and I crank the volume. It's not able to pull enough power and cuts out. You blowing that fuse basically tells you that. It's pulling more then allowed thru that fuse.

yep fuse is too small most likely what size power wire do you have? id run atleast some 4ga and maybe step it up to a 100a fuse, also turn down your gain you dont want it maxed out thats how u blow subs and amps!!! dont let it over heat

I'm running 4 gauge wiring. New problem: amp turns on, all fuses are fine, but no feedback from subs.

what ohms are the subs and is the amp stable at that ohm? sounds like there werent compatible...?

the subs are 4 ohm dual voice coil, im not sure about the amp.

well ur either running the amp at 1 ohm or 4 ohms so you either have it at 1 ohm and blew your 350rms subs or 1 ohm and overheated the amp, but i had a kenwod that i ran lower than 2 ohms and ran fine tho

get you a voltmeter, pull the speaker leads off the amp, and put the radio on some static or white noise and check to see if the voltmeter is reading output from the amp. or i guess you could try another speaker, which may be easier, but you'll see if the amp is still running or if the amps kaput. you can pop the subs with a 9v battery, or maybe even across the B+ and ground on the amp leads. see if the subs move at all. there's even a chance that a wire came undone off the speakers or something. don't know if you've got them bridged or not, so kinda taking a stab here. also check to see that you have good ground. bad grounds can do some funky stuff. just a few things to check. if the speakers were blown, you'd get SOMETHING out of them, even if it was just a growl. unless you absolutely melted them down, but you would've known that i think. if your amp is showing output with a voltmeter or with another speaker, i'd recheck my ground, and my speaker leads in the box. just a good place to start anyway.

the ground is fine, so are the subs. i hooked them back up to the old amp and they're normal. so im guessing the kenwood amplifier cannot handle a 1 ohm load?

most likely not its probaly going into protection mode

That amp will not be able to handle the 1ohm load you are throwing at it. There should be a light showing you the amp is in protect mode, or possibly the amp melted down. hook the amp back up, and check the volt coming out of speaker terminal as stated before. Is the amp mounted in open air also, it could be getting hot.

Yeah man you can only wire those subs to 1ohm or 4ohms.

You're only going to get 500x1@4ohms.

You should try to return that amp and get something better IMO.

get a class D amp, that will handle 1 ohm, end of story

this is a class d mono except i don't know if it's 1 ohm stable

I'm assuming no one read the specs on the amp. Its a class d that IS 1 ohm stable up to 4 ohm. Either you got a ****** refurb or there's a reason that amp has been discontinued. Sorry bro.

It's one of those cheap 1 ohm stable amps that isn't really 1 ohm stable probably.

I read the specs....4ohm and 2ohm....and yes 1ohm supposedly, but I dunno 2x30A fuses = kinda dinky.
