ok guys I have a navigation system with the GM Lockpick that allows you to watch movies while driving, operate all input fields of the navigation unit etc...one problem though is that I cannot watch DVD's and the Navigation System with turn by turn directions work at the same time...The Navigation System stops...Has anyone experienced this and how do I get around this
Also (note this I was driving slowly in a small parking lot and when I hit the brake with the Dvd playing the nav system kept working so it has something to do with manipulating the system)

HELP

There is no option for viewing a split screen DVD/NAV like there is for XM/NAV or FM/NAV, etc.
The DVD will play on the rear screens if you have them or you must choose in the front what you want to watch.

truck is an 07, but what im saying is I have an 07 grand prix, and I can watch an entire movie while going on a trip, and the nav system still updates, I can switch the screen from nav to dvd, but even If I dont switch the screen the nav still gives me turn by turn whether Im looking at it on the screen or not (thru the speakers)

that would get annoying after a while. i mean when you set a destination on your nav and switch the screens to audio the nav is still moving and dictating the route, he's having the issue with it stop completly when he changes to the dvd!!! if that explains it better for more accurate info. but like 007fl stated could be a isolated incident! wut nav disc are you running? like i stated b4 few ppl are having problem with it working with the 09 version disc.

on mine if i set a route and switch it to a movie and then back to nav it stays in one spot that is until i hit the mute button twice and then it puts me at my current location and works fine

Same exact thing here. In addition, sometimes it can take up to 30 seconds before the navigation gets going again, and other times it's instant. I have the GMX-320 on an '07 Yukon.

these stories are kind of steering me away from getting one and i wanted one bad for the longest. i mean why does it pause and you change the screen!!!! thought the saying if it aint broke dont fix it applied to this but seems not. this could cause extended travel time if it pauses you switch bac and miss ya damn turn. then wait for it to re route and it happens again lol would be a mean circle. i dont really need the dvd up front just thought it would be a hot mod..watch dvd and driving "BAD COMBINATION"

Yea, I couldn't care less about watching a DVD in front (although I do it sometimes with music dvd's in the vette). What I really want is TOTAL access to my NAV system while moving. Someone else is trying it out on an '09 on here (different thread). I'm hoping it gets better reviews.

Having total access to the NAV is the only reason I want it too. Too bad none of these companies make a kit that only fixes that issue.

It's fricken stupid that they lock it out while moving. There are millions more of those portable GPS's in cars than factory nav units, and you have total access to them at all times.

I have the Gen 5 Lockpick, and have had good luck with it. Nav continues when DVD is playing...

I'm curious how the new Gen 6 version works with vers 5.0 of the NAV.

All manufacturers lock out their GPS updating while moving, or at least a lot of them. You can thank the people that sued GM because they were not paying attention and blame the GPS for letting them lose their attention.

How long has the unit been in the truck? Now that I have the 5.0 Nav, I'm interested in the Lockpick.. if its still full function and was it a home install or shop? Its going in an 07 Tahoe with factory everything

I've had the unit in the truck now for almost 2 months and no issues whatsoever!! It is plug and play .... do it yourself ... takes all of 15-25 minutes

Just remember there is a TSB out there warning the dealers of the lockpick if you take your vehicle in for various problems such as starting, idiot light, etc. The only reason I'm hesitant in getting the lock pick is that GM can make it useless during a map update.
