Hello everybody,

I have a 2011 Tahoe that started up perfectly the other day and ended up getting towed home. While I was driving the gauges all turned off, but the engine would still accelerate and brake properly. I pulled over and shut it off to try and reset something, who knows. Once I pulled over I checked that the battery had not been knocked loose, and the ground cables (which are in good shape, I remade them last year).

After checking the basic stuff, I got back in and now it won't crank.
The key fob does not work anymore.
Door locks, front windows, from drivers side/passenger side do not work.
Rear windows work from respective sides, but not from the front control.
Mirrors do work.
Radio only responds to "Eject CD".
No PRND indicator, but you can see the letters.
It will shift to neutral and park.
Check engine and ABS lights are on.
I'll also see sometimes Service Airbag.
no TPMS, mileage, fuel range etc.

How old is your battery? I'd get it checked before anything else.
About 1 Year old..A few weeks ago on a cold morning I got "battery low" or something like that, but nothing since. The day that this happened, vehicle started up perfectly, and ran for maybe 5-10minutes before stuff shut off.

Could be a dead or dying cell in the battery. It would start ok still, but it would be doing all sorts of weird stuff--like what you have going on. There's a lot of modules/computers and they like to have good voltage to work properly. I still say get the battery checked out.

Ignition Circuit; sounds like something's wrong with the switch behind your ignition lock.

What are the Possible Causes of the Code P1682 Chevrolet?

  • Faulty ignition switch
  • Ignition Switch harness is open or shorted
  • Ignition Switch circuit poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

My money is on the ignition switch.
