mp3 vs mp4

Will my hard drive store songs in mp4 format? for some reason, that's what my itunes songs are.

I'm not sure if mp4's will work or not. Give it a try and see. But in I-tunes, hi-lite the songs you want, right click, and in the drop down menu there is a choice to convert the selected items to mp3. That's what I do.
