Not to stray off topic here but these percentages are annualized. Inflation is always expressed “over the last 12 months”. So 8.36% on August 31 is not that prices went up by 8.36% in August, but went up by that much compared to August one year before.

Wether you agree how it’s being calculated, just know that on a macro scale it will never be an accurate representation of everyone’s individual situation but at least it’s a baseline we can measure and compare over periods of time.
Actually, the site I posted said it’s CPI (consumer price index) of the current month compared to CPI of the previous month…now, CPI may actually an annualized number, but the info I posted was the %increase in CPI from month to month.

Edit: I just educated myself. CPI is a 12month number. So, yes, it’s a backward looking 12 month period, of increase…my bad. Now back to the hidden price increases (although going back to 2-3% inflation is fine with me too! )

Let’s just say the 6-8% inflation rate is severely under what it actually is

Yeah that sucks. Do you have price protection with your current order?

I have a GM Order Workbench sheet that shows "SRE - Retail Sold" so I should be locked in when it was re-submitted as a 2023 order on 6/22/22.

I wouldnt get your hopes up..... I dont think you will have price protection going from '22 to '23 due to it being a new order number when being submitted. But when your order gets picked up now, you should have the price protection against these increases for all of the '23 model year and you should only pay the amount from the workbench printout.

just checked the online builder against our 2023 Z71 built in August in bought the first week of September..

base price went from $63,500 to $64,300...so an $800 bump in a couple months...guess the first price increase of the 23MY

costs on the luxury package, buckets and freight charges stayed the same

but shouldn't the original order that was accepted, as long as it's Retail Sold (instead of retail stock) have price protection on it? If I was in the situation I'd go ahead and ask the dealer about it now vs waiting for when it comes in
Not understanding why most people do not negotiate their deals upon ordering. Ordered my ‘22 RST 6.2L in October, it’s been sitting in Midlothian since being built in May. Getting a bit impatient. But I’ll never come close to finding anything currently for the 3K under MSRP I’m getting.

Sorry - maybe I wasn’t clear. I know I won’t get the 2022 price. What I am assuming is that when the order was re-submitted as a 2023, that price should be locked in and price protected from further increases throughout the ‘23MY.
