Mirror Dimming Circuit

PIN 5 of the interior rear view mirror controls the drivers side dimming.

When the interior mirrors dims it either sends a "signal" on pin5 to let the outside mirror know its time to dim.

Does anyone know what this signaling is ? is it a voltage or a contact closure or an impedance change?

I think it just varies voltage.
