Hey gang, I simply cannot find the info I need and was hoping for some help. I installed a new A/C compressor in my ‘99 5.7 Tahoe. The unit came pre-loaded with 7ozs of pag 100. My truck does have rear A/C as well, so I think it needs 11ozs. That said, is there gonna still be some oil left over in the system? Do I need to add more oil? If so, will those generic oil plus refrigerant cans be ok? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s the info from a 98 manual, it covers how much oil to add based on what parts are replaced. The way that I interpret it, you’d need to drain and measure the oil from the old compressor. The new one would have the same amount but not less than 2-oz. Maybe others can verify.

Thanks east! that helps. seems like I may be ok. my math was a little off, the compressor came with 6 ozs of pag. The manual you sent says I only really need to add 2ozs. the old compressor had zero oil in it, so that's probably not great. The AC is working fine now, just don't wanna burn it out. thanks again!
