I just bought a new LS2 out of a TBSS with a 100 miles on it for my 09 tahoe. I am debating if its worth changing over to LS3/L92 top end (heads and intake) or just leave the LS2 alone. I am debating on doing a supercharger when I do the swap. If I do the supercharger I am going to leave the motor alone, just havent made my mind up. Are there any worthwhile gains with LS3/L92 top end?

If you are doing a supercharger, I wouldn't do the L92 heads. We did that on our SSS, not really needed.

Thanks! Since I am leaning toward the supercharger I going to leave the motor alone for now.

Honestly I would just leave the motor alone. If you want that Tahoe to be fast, like corvette fast, just supercharger isn't really going to cut it. IMO.

I would never try to make a tahoe fast, I have other cars for that. The 5.3 just isnt doing it for me, hell all my single cab trucks I have owned I put 6.0's in. Then I went to putting LS3's in everything, and is what I originally wanted for the tahoe but couldn't pass the deal up on this ls2. I think it rubbed off on my wife now, the first day I bought the tahoe she said it needed more power, lol.

Why not make it fast? It makes it even funnier to beat out cars built for it then. Ive seen some youtube video of Tahoes and such stomping camaros and what not. I think the fastest one I saw was a 11ish quarter mile. Which by no means bad.

I look at it this way. If you want your Tahoe to be mathematically as fast as a stock C7, then you will need at least 1000hp to have about the same power to weight. 1k+ hp is easily achievable, but to have one that can be reliable and daily driven comes at a price... and even then it still wont be as fast as a stock C7 because it has the aerodynamics of a brick.

I agree with byrds6, why not? It wont ever be as fast as any street car because of its size and power to weight distribution but, it sure would be fun.

What SCer are you considering?

A Whipple 4.0 would certainly do the trick :)

A LS2 will make it fun enough, and not stock. I'll probably just do the small whipple, I've made a 1,000rwhp with it before in a C6. I learned along time ago and many thousands of dollars ago its not worth trying to make a daily driver to crazy. I used to have a bad habit of just modding cars like crazy and next thing you know they werent practical to drive. Have to find the happy medium.

I agree 110%

What have you done to the LS2?

I put a Whipple supercharger on my 98 Tahoe with 120K miles and it now has 178K. Runs great for a truck, didn't hurt mileage and its alot of fun blowing away Ram trucks and any other car/suv. Doesn't have to be Corvette fast to be alot more fun and still reliable. Supercharging is the best bang for the buck. Currently have a Vortech supercharged Z06 and love it too. Been the modify everthing route and SC is more reliable/less trouble in my opinion.(if tuned correctly)
