You & me both. Still not a bad parts car ...If it were closer I'd consider it, but I don't have a garage to work in this lovely winter weather.
That Avalanche is clean as hell..I really wanted on before I bought teh Yukon..but wife hates the look of them for whatever reason. You're not wrong. He did the ATF & filter service, and is driving it around for a bit, and will drop the pan later today to send me pics. (allegedly!?)
I'm not going to look at it today, but maybe this weekend if it doesn't refill the pan with sparkles. I'm definitely going to be adjusting my offer price.
In the meantime I'm chatting with a person about a 2013 Suburban 2500, and another person with a 2008 Avalanche. I really aught to be looking at a pickup with all the projects I have ahead with the new house... we'll see.
The asking prices are starting to creep up past what I want to invest in this moonshot... and I'm wondering if it makes more sense (of course it does) to just deal with my current idle/stalling issues, which will probably cost less than $4000.

I'd take the Avalanche in a heartbeat.
That Burban is way to rough for the price they want for it.
4L60E is a about as reliable as a 6l80 if they kept up on maint. People complain about them but I've owned 5 Trucks/SUVs with 4L60s and only ever had issues with my S10 and the OD Solenoid dying. The people I always see saying the 4 speeds suck are jacked up on 35s trying to put 50000HP through it and wonder why it blows up.Avalanche - yeah, clean. How bad is the 4-speed transmission? I've never owned one.
Suburban - again yeah, the price is above what I want to spend, whether it's a deal or not. But, I wonder what the value difference is between a 1500 and this 2500 with a 6.0 and 6L90?
The tempting thing is that I have a perfectly good 6L80 in my plow truck, and if it were springtime I'd be a heck of a lot more interested in dangling cash for the Yukon with smoked transmission. As it were, I'm guessing there's still a blizzard or three on-deck for the remaining winter months.
Possible, but they started conversations with me, and then haven't followed up.Could be they are on vacation. My kid has a whole week off for president's.. week!
I want those wheels lolThe saga continues....
Going to look at this on Sunday. Hope the transmission doesn't explode first.

I've reached out to seven or eight sellers in the last few days, and it's as if no one wants to take my cash. I don't get it... I say:
"hi, is your car/truck/spaceship still for sale.... if no, then thanks for your time. If yes, then can I come look at it?" (crickets.......)
I'm not a fan of chrome, but if it's limited to the wheels that's best-worst case scenario.I want those wheels lol
Suburban 1500 is primarily for carrying lots of people and their stuff.... I wonder what the value difference is between a 1500, and this 2500 with a 6.0L and 6L90?
4L60E is a '1500' transmission at best, even when built with a Tow/Haul package and 4.10 backing it up, it was never meant to work OR play HARD.4L60E is a about as reliable as a 6L80, if they kept up on maint. People complain about them but I've owned 5 Trucks/SUVs with 4L60Es,

Suburban 2500 is primarily for carrying or towing LOTS OF HEAVY stuff, which makes it better at carrying lots of people and their stuff,
and therefore a wee lil bit much for just 1 / 2 / 3 people and not much stuff.
4L60E is a '1500' transmission at best, even when built with a Tow/Haul package and 4.10 backing it up, it was never meant to work OR play HARD.
4L60E is quite simply too small, even if it can be rebuilt for extra money to withstand a harder life, a 4L80E is a better investment.
Retardiots who get heavier wheels heavier tires and don't upgrade to 4.10 or 4.30 or 4.56 were just asking for it the whole time.
(As good as a 6L80E already is, a 6L90E is better, so long as it fits in the space allotted.)
Our vacations aren't until next week. But that's a good point.Could be they are on vacation. My kid has a whole week off for president's.. week!
I agree. 4l60E IMO they are perfectly fine for a stock application.Suburban 1500 is primarily for carrying lots of people and their stuff.

For most people, yes ... but for anyone who makes the powertrain work / play HARD,I agree. 4L60E IMO they are perfectly fine for a stock application.
