longer oil filter

i just recently purchased a 2013 yukon 5.3. I did my first oil change and it was kinda a pain to remove the oil filter. It is so small and i had a hard time spinning it off because it seems buried up in the oil pan. Is there a longer filter that sits flush or little bit lower than the pan? Im not worried about knocking a hole in it or anything. Thanks

There are multiple options larger/ longer than a GM PF48 (the little blue one). Or you can get the appropriate oil filter wrench. The cup style attaches to a ratchet and fits over the filter just fine.

And I go as tight as I can BY HAND when I put the new one on, no tighter, and never had a problem.

I also run a bead of new oil around the rubber seal, with my finger, before installing the filter.

Get a case of GM PF63 and call it a day. It's back to the OG filter size the LS engines originally came with 26 years ago. I've run that filter on my 2008 and 2017 forever, and a day so far, perfect fit and no issues. I also don't add the additional 0.25qt-ish that it holds over the OEM one. 6 quarts in the 2008 and 8 quarts in the 2017 and neither drinks a drop. 205k on 2008 and 177k on 2017. Both 6.2L, and both get the same 5w-30 full synthetic every 5k
