The power lift gate is not working correctly on my 2019 Tahoe. Irregardless whether I try to open it with the remote, with the button on the handle or buy kicking beneath the hitch, it opens about a foot then stops. I have to manually lift it the rest of the way. Closing is similar, except that I have to close it manually as none of the above listed releases work nor does the closing button on the bottom of the door.

Any idea what might be the problem...or the fix? The Tahoe has been sitting unused for the last few weeks while we shelter at home. It just did this today when I tried opening it. It’s still under warranty and I will take it to the dealer next week if I can’t find a fix.

Not sure how the gates work on the k2's but sometimes it's the gas cylinder, but it could also be a calibration is needed if it is more motorized and less dependent on the gas cylinder, either way it should be under warranty I would think anyway

Its been reported on here before. More than likely the actuator(gas shock). At one time there was a TSB. Do a google search and you should find it plus the part and how to repair. As stated it should be covered under warranty. Good luck.

You can program the lift gate to limit the opening to any height. Manually open it to the desired height and hold the CLOSING button until the horn honks or the tail lights flash. Maybe your button got pushed at the height it is currently opening to?

This is a possibility and i can see that happening but as someone said above there was a posting recently about the liftgate not opening....something about the motor or strut...

The local Chevy dealer replaced the actuator for the lift gate today. It’s now working. He said that he’s had to replace 20-25 of them in the last 12 months. It’s surprising to me that this one failed in the first year.
