Didnt want to derail the thread about morning start ups so heres my question. When its real cold, single digits and below 0, is it worth it to keep your hoe running when you run into a store for 10 minutes or so? or is that just another gas waster?

I remember from yeaars ago someone told me 6 mins or less you're good in reference to gas consumption as compared to starting the engine..no CLUE if that's true or not.

Sorry I'm not much help....its like I just gave you a wives tale :)

I have also heard that, but in terms of minutes just it takes less gas to leave it running for a few that to start and warm up again. With that in mind, if you're just in and out it probably not enough time for the truck to get cold. They might all be urbam myths. Submit that question to myth busters.

it takes way less than 6 minutes to have a turn break your windown and steal you truck though. i NEVER leave it running unattended. especially w/ all the craziness we've been seeing here at TYF lately!

True that, I would never do it in a big town. I live in a small town with 8,000 people max. Everyone leaves their cars running in the winter. 2 ways outa town, im not too worried about leaving it running for a few. Shit half the people leave the keys in the ignition all the time. bad news if you ask me.
