I have owned my 2015 Tahoe LT for about 18 months now, and she has run pretty rock solid thus far. I did install an AFM module in the ECM right after I bought it, but other than that, nothing but regular oil changes. She has around 150K, and now my AC has started blowing warm. No cold whatsoever. AC is something I know very little about, other than checking the levels of R-134 and adding as needed, which it did not need. She was 100% full. So, I take it to a guy who has some good reviews, but nobody I know, and I know those reviews can be faked. He tells me that "These trucks are known for this, and he is going to have to replace almost everything, including the compressor, the condenser, the expansion valves, and of course, all the refrigerant. He said that something broke in the compressor, and it most likely sprayed little metal shards into the hoses, and that is why he had to replace so many things. All told it was going to be around $2300, which sounds insane.
Does anyone know if this is a well-known problem in these trucks? I paid him for the evaluation and left. Getting it checked out somewhere else tomorrow.
