I have a 2011 Tahoe. The factory fob is lock/unlock and pop the rear glass open. A few years ago I had an aftermarket remote start added that works off of my factory fob. Lock three times and it starts. Lately my fob has not been working great. I figured it was the battery, so I purchased a brand new Duracell replacement. No improvement. The lock function works as does remote start, but it is very hard to get the unlock to work. I have to press the button several times and it hardly works. Is my fob just worn out? Also if I order a new fob will it work with my aftermarket remote start? Doesn’t sound like the 2011 fob can be programmed without a tech 2. Is that correct? Any info would be helpful. Looking at these as a little bit nicer replacement.

I do have a keyfob programmer that might work for you as I do have a VXDIAG now. Though do not believe that year requires a Tech 2. Look online for programming instructions and or buy the key fob off Amazon and see if you can program it yourself.

Check the the soldering points on the battery holder to board. They tend to crack, a reaolder will get them working again.
