Just bought my first 4x4

I got a 1997 Chevy Tahoe 2 door. Should be picking it up tomorrow or sometime next week. The dealership I'm buying it from has no power today, we just had ice storms here. It has a 6inch lift and 3 or 4 inch body lift. The guy at the dealership didnt know the brand of the lift. I'll take it to a lift place I know so they can check in out. Can't wait to start fixing this thing up, I have been wanting a 4x4 since I was a kid, don't know why I waited so long to get one.

Hopefully, since you have wanted a 4x4 for a long time, you know that the lift and larger tires will be putting more stress on the steering and suspension components and will require a bit more upkeep to keep it all in good operating order. have fun. Is it gonna be off road or a street machine? The offroad would be harder on it than the street driving. Good luck.

You’re going to need some bigger meats to fill up those wheel wells. At least a little bigger

Just make sure that when you buy replacement parts that you buy good quality so they last with all that extra stress on them instead of doing cheap parts and having to replace more often.

You're going to love the pick-up style lift gate. You can stuff all kinds of lumber & stuff inside. With the rear seats folded down it's just like having a pick-up with a solid cover over the bed. ENJOY!! BTW, welcome to the club! Aloha!

Probably going to get the suspension done again swap it out for a 6 inch BDS lift. Definitely need to get bigger wheels/tire, going to try some 35 inch tires. Just want to clean it up and put a nice sound system in it, nothing special just better quality than stock. I got an idea for a custom console I want to build. Right now the exhaust dumps under the cab so I'm going to run that out the back. It's just a spare vehicle now that I can mess with, so I can pretty much do whatever.
