Hey guys I'm pretty new to the forums here but I have a Intermediate Steering Shaft question...mine is making noise and I plan buying a new one off of ebay but would this shaft just cause the clunking noise when turning or could it cause some play in the steering wheel as well?

Usually the clunking you can hear and feel in the steering wheel is the ISS. Replace that with the new model as well as the bearing. It is a little plastic piece that the steering wheel speed sensor is mounted to.
RE the ISS problem: does the "clunking" occur when you hit bumps at slow-intermediate speeds? I have an 06 Yukon which I bought in August with 96 k mi. It now has 125,500 mi. It has knock or clunk when I hit a bump, especially when turning. I'm new to these vehicles. In th past when my LR3s have done this, it was due to bad ball joints and bushings. So I asked my dealer to check it out. They said ball joints/bushings were fine and the noise was normal. I don't believe them. So I'm guessing I should ask them to check the ISS?? Thanks

Yes, that is when it is most noticeable.
