the GM wireless charger has 2 distinct problems, which can be fixed.

#1 the GM pad is nearly 2 mm thick, this greatly reduces charging capability especially if you have a case. I replace GM pad with a thin leather or leather like fabric.

#2 the GM pad is not made big enough to support the larger phones, S7-S8 and Iphone8.
by removing the center GM pad you can enlarge the area by removing the GM pad.
Mine fits my S8 with a case on it perfectly now.

Just ran across this mod that allows iphone 8 & iphone X to charge wireless in 2017 Yukon Denali. Worked for me! First link (part1) shows more detail, but see part 2 as well for the final product. Very simple & took 10min.

I read some of the posts on the YouTube video and it seems like some are saying it’s not working for themselves do the ones that have the Yukon all say it works. I’m wondering if there’s a slight difference in the wireless charge between Tahoe’s and Yukon’s?

The part he removes looks like a control function. Some sort of induction sensor. I wonder if it will over charge the phones without that part.

Does it charge with the ignition off? I would check for heat from the pad and overcharging.

Just watched again and the magnet wasn’t removed. Only the green “repeater” as he called it. Did I miss something?

In the video the magnet is attached to the green "repeater" My magnet is glued to that thing. Trust me the magnet prevents it from working. I placed that magnet in the center of a different wireless charger i had and it prevents it from initializing a charge. Remove that and i almost guarantee it will work.

Okay. Well I’ll go test that theory too. So I’m going to go out this morning and remove the green repeater piece and that magnet. I will only have the copper coil charger I hope.... I’ll take pictures again.
