I would rather flush mount it as the top of the center console. Good spot as long as you dont put anything wet or heavy there. Probally about the same dimensions too. Run Docking cable and power under the console for a flush clean look IMO.

you have the wider console lid.

Mine is much narrower.. besides you have to look directly down at the screen..

With it in front of you at least you don't have to move your head while driving.. just a quick glance to navigate menu's or pandora while driving.

If you put it where the radio goes, you have to re-mount your deck.. and the thing will be a bright distraction at night.

I think the lower console is the best bet.. sliding it in from the top with a dock connector built in so you just slide in or out and your good..

Trying to get him to send pics now... but my stereo guy just did one...

but.... instead of a flushmount like we did mine, basically he made a tray it sits in and it slides out and flips up like a flip out headunit.. it not only looks sick but its removable... so the dude can take it in and use his home system to update it.

It looks clean as shit.. comes out right below the console and flips up... but its in a demo truck they are building so he is being a lil stingy with the pics... he said it was easy as shit to do in a hoe and would hate for it to be reverse engineered and put in another truck before he can get this one out of the shop.

If I were to add an iPad or similar to the 2003-2006 Tahoe Yukon, then I would move the HVAC controls down to the lower center console single din cubby, and mount the iPad or similar vertically, combining the height of the double din and former HVAC control space into one.

The idea here being, how often do you need to adjust the HVAC? And do you really need to see the HVAC when it is being adjusted? On the other hand, you really do need to be able to see the iPad screen, and it must be touchable all over, without big gulp cups in the cup holder getting in the way.

Tons of touch screen options. I have a carpc and put a 10" in my dash, it's a 2010 though but depending on what you want to put where you can do a lot.

Here's my dash.

I'm still working on the graphic user interface, but it's getting closer. Way more control than the stock GM unit. :)

That would be great, I looked into some parts and it doesnt seem that bad, but I may be missing something.

Just need that module, a screen with a touchscreen overlay and a power supply right?

For the most part

1 - Custom gadz module
2 - LCD screen
3 - enclousure
4 - Video output for phone

1 - So you need customgadz controller (which controls your phone through bluetooth) Let them know what screen you ended up getting before buying
2 -Screen you can actually use an after market 7 inch screen like a pioneer or kenwood double din the only catch you would have to open up the unit to connect the customgadz controller to the pioneer touch screen. or you go get something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-View-P...up-Priority-/321778991755?hash=item4aeb85c28b
Whats nice with that screen is it has a wire that you hook up to your reverse lights and it will switch the unit to video input 2 which can be your back up camera and then when you put the car back in drive it switches back to video input one which is your phone.
3- If you go ebay route depending on year of car if you have a 2002 and below its a little more trickier since its a din and 1/2 and not double din you will have to do some modification. If its a 2003 and above then you can get something like this http://www.mo-co-so.com/ByByte-Black-Box-N-Nano-ITX-Car-PC-Case-p/mcs-byb-bbn.htm
4- Depending on phone you will need to output the video from phone to car lcd. So you can get something like this
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=8675&gclid=CNKP0Mrzo8cCFUWRfgodnjcE-Q
which works good on some phone but others have problems cause they wont charge as you use it. So i ended up getting this. http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Push2TV-Wireless-Miracast-Certified/dp/B00904JILO
which is nice cause it allows me to wirelessly mirroe my phone and charge it too if needs be Also there are so many options that you would just have research what works best with your phone and price. I got that unit cause it seems to work with almost all andriods, and you can get that unit cheaper if you search.

Hope that help. Ill try to get video tonight to show the unit in action and then when i get time ill pull it out to show the internal workings.
