so I'm putting in a new one but I have a question about one of the connectors on the back. There's an orange plug back there that's not on the new one. What do I do with that? Also what kind of oil do I need to put in it?

the rear contains any related pressure control switches or pressure relief valves. as this is a compressor replacement install a new part on the new compressor if it was on the old one. your system should have synthetic pag oil in it.

That's just it, i kinda broke the other one trying to get it off. I removed the snap ring but it would not budge so now I have to get another one. From what I have been able to gather, it's a high pressure cutoff switch. All the instructions I've ever read about the oil was to empty what's in there so I know how much is in there then put 4oz in the compressor and 4oz in the drier. Is that not right? I want to make sure I have enough in it and that I didn't loose any due to seepage or what not but I don't know what kind to buy. There's all sorts of PAG numbers.

Now I'm not so sure. I can't find any replacements that are orange so I can't be sure I'm getting the right part. Does anyone have an exploded view of the compressor and the parts that connect to it with part numbers?

gm has a one for your compressor type. gm 12378526 except i think that is a multi bottle pack. check with the dealer. iirc it is a pag-150 for the ht6 compressors.
