Impact sensors - can they kill engine during slow speed/emergency braking?

I'm bored at work, and thinking about a few instances in the past two years when I was traveling less than 10mph, but slammed the brake pedal with both feet (rocking the vehicle out of a mud hole, and swerving/braking to miss a dog on a class IV road) and experienced the engine cutting off. In none of the instances did my vehicle hit anything.

Is there some sort of inertial sensor/accelerometer that fails over time, causing false signals to the ECU?

Engine immediately fired back up like nothing was wrong each time.

I can't think of anything other than airbag impact sensors, or the stabilitrac sensors which I don't know if they measure forward/backward motion?

Perhaps a wiring connection to something like the MAF, crank position sensor or a worn fuel pump?
