Went to install my Eagle Eyes LEDs last night, and whereas one didn't even have a resistor, they both blinked rapidly.

I've contacted the co., and I get the impression that they want to make things right -- and I think that means sending me new resistors -- but I just wanted to see what it took to solve your (for those who had it) rapidly-blinking tail light issues.

Did it turn out to be bad resistors?

Is there something in the light assembly (other than bad resistors) that can cause this?

These things were already wired completely. All I needed to do was unplug my harnesses and plug these in. You can test new lights without even removing your old ones first. In my case, they both blinked rapidly. Needless to say, I'm bummed.

Could I have done something wrong?

Looking for some direction, folks. Thanks!!!

PS -- Are resistors a "shelf item" at auto stores? I'm no electrical guru...

I've had the Eagle Eyes Gen 3's for about 5 months now. Up until now I would get the occasional fast blink on my left side when the brake is pressed. By occasional... I mean once every couple weeks. Starting last week, it now happens every time on my left side when the blinker is on and the brake is pressed. I have heard others have this problem as well, even with the resistors attached. I have new resistors on the way, but I doubt they will solve anything. I'm going to give them a shot, but if I keep getting the fast blink I'm switching to the IPCW's, which are a much higher quality light.

Oh, and if you haven't noticed yet with the Eagle Eyes... when the brake is pressed with the blinker on, the tails and the headlights blink alternately. I don't know about you, but this drives me insane.

If anybody has any ideas or solutions to this dilemma... please chime in.

I have the IPCW, and like Will said, I have had zero issues, though they hit the pocket real hard I guess it was worth it compared to having these problems.

Nna -- I know, but I'm just not a fan of the IPCW lights (at least as compared to these G3 lights). I can't get past the oval shape of the LEDs. Don't ask me why. LOL I really like the looks of these G3s -- I just need 'em to work!

Will -- Thanks for the reply, although I wish your reply was more encouraging. They said they're going to send me new resistors, so we'll see it that solves things, even temporarily. I wonder if there are different quality resistors out there. Maybe these are just crappy ones. I guess we'll see.

Thanks!

Don't get me wrong, I love the looks of the Eagle Eyes. They are very similar to the stock 'lades and that's why I went with them. I just wish they would work properly! I have them tinted pretty dark and they are still much brighter than the stock lights.

Nnaboy... on the IPCW's, do both rows blink when the blinker is on, or just one? How does the brightness stack up against the stock lights? I'm thinking of getting the Bermuda Blacks like you have and tinting them dark.

On the IPCW only one row blinks while turning, and its far brighter than stock. Everybody seems to love them.

That's exactly why I got them. Not really that they look just like the Esky ones -- but that they have the same OEM quality and look. The red is an OEM red. The chrome plastic inside looks OEM. I think they got the overall shape and detail shapes right. I just hope I can get mine working correctly!

Thanks,

Here's a follow-up:

I was sent new resistors by the company from which I got the LEDs. The right tail works fine now (no fast blinking). The left one continues to blink quickly -- and that's with either of the new resistors. So, it's clearly not a resistor issue with the left tail.

Given that, is there anything to "check" with the light itself? Or, is the light just never going to work properly?

Scroll down to the Electronic LED Flashers. I'm going to order one and give it a shot instead of the resistors.

Will -- Good stuff. Interesting. Might be the ticket. Anyway, since one of my lights DID work properly with the correct resistor, I'm convinced that that one light is F'ed. So, it's going back. But, if the new one(s) work correctly, and then maybe GET screwy, this could be the cure.

Mine are the same way... the right one works fine and the left blinks fast. This leads me to believe that it is not an issue with the taillight, but rather the way the vehicle is responding to the lighter voltage.

Hopefully the new light will work for you, but from what I have heard, the problem seems to persist. I really hope the new flasher will take care of this once and for all.

Will -- Yeah, I don't know why I didn't try it yet, but I need to hook the left light up to the right harness and see if it works. If it DOES work on that side, then yeah, there's got to be a problem with the way the truck deals with the LEDs.

Is your truck an '09 also?

Anyone running LED tails on an '09 with NO problems??

Thanks!

When I got home today I hooked up the left light to the right harness -- and, fast-blink city. So, there's absolutely something wrong with the light. Dang.

Those lights are stubborn, I would say try and switch the tail light harnes with the brake light harness and see the reaction.....

The GMT900s don't have a flasher relay from what I've been told. Therefore you can't install an LED capapble flasher. You can go to chevy and have them program your setup to accomodate LEDs because they do ship their commercial flatbed trucks this way, ones that have no tailights so that LEDs can be accomodated.

Yeah they don't have a relay but something like I flasher module IIRC.
Their is one on Ebay and other online sites that are meant to handle LEDs but its very expensive (Like $100 or $200.
I do know their is some way to mod the OEM module to make it accomodate LEDs, just takes a Pioneer to find it out.
