How Much Can I tow

I'm trying to figure out what my wife's Yukon will tow. She has the 4.8 2001 Yukon 4x4. I thought you could get that info from the vin number or the sticker inside the glovebox. Any help?

There are web sites where you can find this info. Ones dedicated to trailers should have a guide. Depends on your year as well. Be careful with the factory hitch if you tow heavy. Many have failed and caused accidents. I upgraded mine right away.

I'll have to check to see if this is factory. I don't think it is. I had to install the break controller and the trailer plug.

I know it says that the 5.3 can tow like 8000lbs

The new 4.8's towing capacity is 4500lbs. I'm thinking yours is probably right around there somewhere.

I wouldn't try more than 5000lbs and you may want to invest in some inner spring helper bags if you plan on towing quite a bit.

Are you sure you have a 4.8? I thought you could only get the 4.8 in 2wd. Maybe that was just the later years.
