Hood Wont Close Help ASAP

Last night I pulled my hood release handle and it felt weird but nonetheless the hood opened and well I opened the hood and when I finished what I was doing, I go to close my hood and it doesnt. the only thing thats holding the hood is the secondary latch that u hit when u open the hood. I try to close the hood and it sounds like its hitting a wall or something. And the handle on the inside is kind of springy and will not return to the resting position, but im not really sure how its supposed to sit when the hood is open. So if anyone can help thx

Is it possible that the latch was closed while the hood was still open (by someone/something leaning on or against it)? And now it is acting as if the hood is already closed?

nah I was out there alone, and I just tried again, and its like the latch is not locking, its turns from the the "U" position like 90 degrees to the right in a "C" position, should it turn farther than this
