Running surround sound in the crib, what is a good gauge wire?

For the surround sound speakers. The 2 book shelf ones are already wired. Not sure of the power its a little old but not old enough where it has the S Fiber Optical Hook up.

14-16 gauge will do fine.

thanks! It comes with 5 speakers and a sub woofer. My plans are to add 2-3 more. One on the top of the wall where it meets the cieling and one on the bottom near the molding. If the Mrs. Approves I might add one in the middle. This isn't the mancave it is the living room

Those speaker sets typically come with 16-18 gauge wire so it should be inexpensive.

you can get a roll of good wire pretty cheap..

Thanks, just ordered 100 feet of 14 gauge wire for like 30 bucks via ebay.

On to my next problem...

It has the fiber optic wire connection. I plug the wire into the cable box or my xbox 360 slim and the opposite end lights up red. I plug it into the reciever and no sound. I plug it into the reciever and leave the other end open it, the open end doesn't even light up red.

My assumption reciever isnt working?

music source will create the light the receiving point will pick up the light but not light itself not every receiver auto selects optical input. may need to manual select or link it to input you have selected if it is an assignable optical input. See if you can figure out how mine works.
