Sorry to do this to all, especially given the large number of 'title related' posts.

I've used the search tool & have read about every HID post I could find but havent found a solution/answer

I have a 2004 Tahoe. Looking to switch to HIDs.
Understand my current bulbs are 9005 (high) / 9006 (lows) / 880 (Fog) that is not the issue.

My questions- In looking at DDMs site I saw the DDM HID Kit Slim Ballast (35W or 55W)
http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...=101&parent=85

1) Is this an all inclusive kit? is there anything else I would need to get?
2) I am guessing I would just order the equivilant bulbs? 9005/9006/880. Is this correct too?

Again... If an answer was already written within this forum... I have missed it, and apologize.

Thanks in advance!

I believe it is HIGHLY recommended to also install a relay. I am sure DDM Tuning sells them as well. I have HIDs installed in my lows, but not my fogs nor my brights.

I have been told that the 55w maybe better in light performance then the 35w but may run a (small) risk of overheating electrical wires. My pockets are not deep to have my whole electrical system re-wired so I went with the 35w 6000k and I am not disappointed, however I have just recently purchased from DDMTuning the 5000k 9005 bulbs because I no longer want the bluish tint in my lows (personal preference)

Hope this helps.

6k 35w slim digital lows and 6k 35w reg. analog to digital fogs. I used the harness they sell for the lows only. Didn't want to take a chance with Tahoes wiring. Also my friend just did her Yuk and without the harness she was having to flick the on switch twice to get them to both come on. The harness corrected this issue. At this point I have had no issues. Good luck.

Thanks guys.

I am leaning towards the 35w 5k.
I had read about the relays but wasnt sure if that was part of the Ballast in the kit. (Chalk it up to my lack of knowledge)

Appreciate the help!

35w is plenty, and do your lows and fogs, I bet you'll never need, nor use the highs, save the cash off the highs and get the relays.

Sweet.

Good Point on the Highs, I cant remember the last time I used them

I'm guessing that: http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=133&parent=0
suffices for the relay (As it states relay in the description.

Thanks again.

Yep, what all these guys said. That is the correct harness/relay. $15 is a good price, too.

It's kind of personal preference on 35/55w thing...35 is plenty for lows, though. I also run 55w in my fogs and ONLY use them when there is no on-coming traffic, because they are crazy-bright. Running fogs w/lows is way brighter then high-beams unless you run the 4 or 6-high mod (which I do). I'm a little backwards with the relays. I have them in my lows because I have a custom projector job going and I wanted to safeguard it, but I just did the plug and play thing with the 55w fogs and haven't had any issues at all.

If you want to maximize light and aren't going for "bling," then get 4300-5000k for the color. They have the highest output and best light with the least glare.

I thought HID's required reflectors? Killer's thread looks just like my 02 Yukon. We had a loaner car with HID's and my wife loves them, so now thinking about it too. Abn Panzer, what did you decide to get? Does the 04 Tahoe have projectors already? Thanks

They don't "require" anything, although most reflector headlights are not designed to handle the output of an HID bulb.

Generally speaking, projectors are the best way to go for HID's, and even better yet, HID projectors....designed specifically to handle the HID output.

Im pretty sure the denalis are the only ones that have projectors stock. My yukon is an 03 with after market headlights. My headlights are not projectors.

Yup, only the Denali headlights are OEM projectors, but not HID projectors. They are made for standard halogen headlight bulbs.

What happens to the reflectors? turn black or warp from the heat? Sorry, complete HID noob.

I have 55w 12k with no relay and it works just fine, but I have orderd relays just incase.

Here is my thread with plenty of pics.http://tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13653

I would recomend 55w just because they are so much brighter and DDM has a great price on them.

Ya i am with you i am having a problem going with 35w when 55w is 10 bucks more but i truly do not know what i am getting into i have not seen in person i just know i want best value for money, so any more opinions would be awesome, sorry to jack on your thread but i have my order page
for ddm up right now, also google coupon codes for ddm i found some that work so you can save a little money

Bottom line is the 55w will be considerably brighter, and heat shouldn't be much issue.

Problem with 55w bulbs in a reflector isn't that you're going to cause yourself equipment problems, it's that it is likely to completely blind other drivers, and possibly get you a ticket.

Projectors have optics designed to focus the light in the area you need it and out of on-coming traffic's face. Reflectors don't generally have a cutoff shield and just blast all the light more indiscriminately in the general direction of "in front of you."

DenaliAK is right but, I haven't been flashed once. Mine are adjusted down a bit. If your getting 55w I wouldnt get 5000k-9000k because your light will be really white and will blind people. Thats why I got 12k because the light is bright but not blinding.

I rarely use my fogs anymore with 35w 6k lows. It just does not seem necessary like it was with halogens. I turn them on only when on a dark road or rain.

lol. don't get me wrong definetly get them! I have both! I'm just saying with 35w 6k lows setup it's enough light. add the 35w fogs and light scatters to the sides and see everything. I just don't think 55w is necessary. But what ever floats your boat.
