I don't think that they will light up the road alot. Stay with the chrome on the inside and just have the outside smoked so it can reflect and still pass on to the outside which will let you see more than if you do smoked on the inside

i just put mine in today they look good during the day but i dont know how they are gonna be at night, i do have hids so it might not be as bad, i guess we'll find out tonight lol, if they suck im gonna either go projectors or brand new factory ones, the reason why i got rid of my stock ones is cause no matter what i did i couldnt get them to be clear again

Yess it will. ever notice how oncoming traffic's headlights seem to be one giant blub?
Thats because the light emmited from the bulb itself is reflecting around back and forth inside the housing, causing what you see as one big ass light..

Now if you black out that back ground, as oncoming traffic you will see just small lighted up dots. where the light is being emitted direclt from the bulb assembly. Think projectors, but not the same..

Theres a fairly drastic difference in perceived light output from the two.



Its ultimalty up to you what you do with your headlights.
But if I was you I would simply ask myself, "is my life worth some blacked out headlights"?
Cause thats exacly what your doing, when you reduce your headlight output to the point you cant see that blacked out car doing 30 in a 65, or that big ass deer about to jump in the road..

i bought my current TYC (very good brand) HID headlights off ebay with no problems but the set of projectors i bought before those were complete SHIT. ebay is extremely hit or miss on the "cheap" parts.

90% of the cheap headlights on ebay are complete junk. TYC brand housings are very good quality, can also be had through LMC truck.

well it looks like im keeping my headlights, they work great, they have a good beam pattern and cutoff too, but thats with hids of course, the high beams arent that fantastic with halogens, looks like ill just get hids for them too, no biggie my lows are bright enough anyways

I would get the headlights with the chrome reflective housing and then smoke the lens if you want. But with your rig, I think all clear- headlights, turns, and corners would look best, imo.

First let me aplogize for the crappie Iphone pic's and this is the 91-99 section.. But as Rubyrod fom " the Fith element" says WHO CARES!!!
this is just after I installed clear corners.

Current setup is LEd turns, projector fogs, and cleaned up headlight lenses..

Looks good but you still can't see that far away like you could with non smOked lights. I have smoked headlight covers and I can see with them on but if I take them off it's like a light show. The tinting is a key factor in if you want it to look good but still look great at night. Why don't you get clear lights and light tint them

Those are the only ones that are DOT approved because they still are chrome and will reflect light. They still have some black to them though, which is what you're after.

I highly recommend to silicone all the housings. I guarantee the corners will fill up with water and the parking lights will collect moisture if you don't.

I personally recommend retaining the original lens colors and light colors for external lighting. just get some new clean ones if yours are washed out or yellowed out.

People's glimpse of an eye may mistake it a something other than a safety reflector on a vehicle. amber side lenses and red tail light reflector grab more attention then an unlit uncolored piece of clear plastic.
