H I D lights

I've done a lot of searching on here and found alot about hid's.

The only shop in my city that sells them are $300 for lows installed, $500 for highs and lows. I searched hid on amazon.com and the prices are good imo. Are these kits good? Anything I should be aware of?

Also I have a 2004 tahoe and just want to do the lows, what exactly do I need to look for?
Is it easy to do myself?

Other option- the shop here sells 80w halogens 7000k. Maybe just go that route.

Sorry for the long post and all questions, just don't want waste money or mess something up.

Also I got 4000k HID 35W for foglights for another $50.00

Such a good deal to get 2 pairs of HIDs for $100.00ish

i paid 65 a set with lifetime warrenty and relays for lows and fogs..

paid $100 for the install. $230 total

Also as far as color temp, I want really white maybe with a slight blue. Im thinking
4000k-6000k.

6000k-8000k is white w/ a little blue. 6000k is most factory HID systems

i get mine from ebay, haven't had one fail yet,,, but seriously, why would pay for an install? it's basically the same as installing a bulb, you plug the stock socket in to the box, then you plug the box's plug in to the bulb, done




i got 6000k, haven;t had a chance to install em yet though, stupid snow.

the DDM 5000 was alot bluer if that is a word than i thought they would be if you want pure white from DDM go with the 4000

Is the difference between wattage just brightness? I was told if I got the 80w halogen bulbs i would need a new harness because they would burn the stock.

The current draw for HID lamps is mostly at startup then they actually use less energy after that if you purchase the 55w bulbs from most places they will be about 25-30 more due to the fact that they include they upgrade harness to draw power from the battery. they are brighter but not really necessary the 35w are damn bright on there own

I saw some xenon kits on ebay for 17.99?? Stay away? Also it said if you install just the lows you lose you highs. Is this true? Are all kits like this?

That's only for vehicles that use one bulb for highs and lows...ours are two seperate bulbs.
Ebay isn't a bad place to catch a deal on HID's but you just gotta watch the shipping,that's where most sellers try to make their money.

yea my Xentec were about 70 shipped and alot of my friends have bought the Oracle kit for about $300 and mine have outlasted them all, eventhough the Oracle place is intown and they have a lifetime warranty but its a pain when there's go out all the time and they have to order a ballast or bulb and wait weeks for it to get in........ so im for ebay HIDs all the way! i have the 35w 6k now and they are alot brighter than the 10k i used to have i dont think i will ever go back to factory bulbs..

If you're going strictly plug n' play kits, I'll +1 DDM.

Other quality (in my experience) pnp kits: -Apexcone (same thing as DDM, just a different name)

These are just the ones I or people close to me have used and had good results with. Ebay kits are hit and miss; you often get what you pay for.

What are the bulb numbers for all of the lights? Primarily interested in the los and fogs

Think im gonna go with ddm. I'm looking at the 35w, just can't decide between 4500k and 5000k. Is the kit all I need? No extra wires?

Also got my led interior mod done today in "cool white" just a hint of blue. I would like the hid's close to the color.

Dont do ddm. Nothing but trouble. HID gate on ebay or spring for a retrosolutions kit.
